CAD tools for preparing and plotting measured technical drawings such as floor plans, construction drawings and machine parts with layers, dimensions, hatches and blocks. First decide whether you need two-dimensional drafting or a three-dimensional model, and with whom and in which file format you will share the drawings.
Good to know: Free-use terms vary by tool and plan. When a card lists no tool-specific limit, check quotas, watermarks and export terms on the official page.
CADCraft is a desktop computer-aided drafting app built around the familiar CAD workflow: a command line with prompts, object snaps, polar tracking, layers, associative dimensions, hatching, blocks and paper-space layouts with scale-exact plotting. It reads and writes DXF files, opens DWG files and exports PDF, SVG and PNG. It is free and open source under MIT or Apache-2.0 with no account, but its README warns that entities CADCraft does not model yet are not kept when you save. The official getartcraft.com page lists CADCraft as “In development” (checked 13 October 2026).

What should you compare?
Freehand illustration and building 3D scenes for a website are separate jobs; this page lists apps for measured technical drawing. Try a small drawing: set the units and scale, draw a few lines with object snaps, add a dimension and a hatch, then create a layout, plot it to PDF and check that it prints at the right scale.
Confirm in the official documentation which DWG and DXF versions it opens and saves, and whether objects it does not support are kept when you save. The browser version and the desktop app may differ in offline work and file access. If the app is in alpha, beta or development, work on a copy of the original file and check the output in another viewer before delivering an official project.
Can I open DWG files? DWG support depends on the app and the file version; some tools open DWG but save only DXF. Open a copy of an important file first and check that layers, dimensions, text and blocks come through complete.
Two-dimensional drafting or three-dimensional modeling? For floor plans, sections and technical drawings, 2D drafting is often enough. Parts for manufacturing, 3D printing or volume checks need a tool that does 3D or parametric modeling; check on the official page which one is offered.
