3D Design and Web Animation: tools and apps

Tools for building 3D scenes that run in the browser, interactive animations and lightweight vector animations for websites and apps. First decide what the animation is for: drawing attention, showing a state or presenting a product in 3D each call for different tools and file types.

What should you compare?

Build a simple scene or a two-state animation, then export it and add it to a real page. Check smoothness on a mid-range phone, page load time and file size, and try interaction with mouse, touch and keyboard.

Confirm in the official documentation which export formats exist (for example glTF/GLB, Lottie JSON, video or a tool-specific player file) and which player or code snippet is needed to show it on your site. Check the pricing page for watermarks, export limits or project limits on the free plan.

How does animation affect accessibility? Motion can cause dizziness for some people and make reading harder. Respect the operating system’s reduce-motion setting, add a pause control to long autoplaying animations and never convey important information through animation alone.

Will a 3D scene slow my site down? High-polygon models, large textures and scenes that render continuously strain the processor and battery, especially on mobile. Simplify the model, compress textures, run the scene only while it is visible and measure the result with a speed test tool.

Notes that apply to several tools

  1. Check each tool’s plan separately; one feature’s allowance does not cover another.
  2. High-resolution output and advanced tools may require a different plan.
  3. Check the official page for current quotas and output conditions.
